Measurement of Ash Distribution in a DPF

Ash measurements in DPFs can be made by comparing image data of a filter before and after loading with ash. The information below was developed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The ash loading was measured independently to be 33 g/L.

The measurements shown were made on the monolith only. In-the-can measurements of ash can be made.
