Diesel Particulate Filters
New Non-Destructive X-Ray techniques for measuring distributions of one or multiple wash coats, soot, ash, and substrate damage from regeneration.
New tools are available to help scientists and engineers involved in diesel particulate design, manufacture and use to achieve lower costs and better performance .
Diesel Particulate filters must achieve key requirements of high filtration efficiency, low filtration backpressure, and fast regeneration. Design engineers must maximize the efficacy of PGM catalysts and balance high loading needed for performance, low cost to meet market needs. There is a need to closely tailor catalysts to individual vehicles, and control soot build up, ash build up and possible substrate overheating during regeneration. Continued efforts to move toward one-brick-four-way catalysts.
